[But Jack frowns a little at hearing that, knowing that it's true. Sometimes he thinks the girl sees things in Jack that simply aren't there. But she's also seen a lot that is.]

Is she? What were you trying to do in there?
no subject
It didn't start that way. [He steps closer.] They're murdering us, Johnny. More will die before it's over.

And you thought picking a fight by yourself in a bar full of them would achieve what?
[ He's starting towards a safer place they could go, back to where Jack can get that burn looked at and treated. There's something more going on with Jack, and he knows it. ]
What's going on? You're not okay at all. And I don't meant the -- [ He gestures to the wound. He'll make that up to him one day, he promises. ]

[Arguably better than he was in Shiloh, but this world isn't without its own troubles. The natives are the lessor of them. He looks at Johnny, scowling from confusing more than anger.]
Why did you follow me?

[ Not that he's any authority on escapism and avoiding people -- but Johnny misses his friend. No matter what weirdness went down between them, Jack was one of the first people he'd met, and he doesn't want to lose that, especially after everything that's gone down in this world.
He scratches his head awkwardly. ] Look, I'm sorry. For a lot of things. I don't want to mess this up, you know? You're my friend.

[Jack looks him in the eyes, dares him to deny it. But looking at Johnny also softens him. He swallows at his words, knowing that it all started with him.
He sighs and shakes his head.]
Forget about it. Pretend it never happened. Maybe we can salvage something.

[ Johnny looks down at it, unable to deny the truth of Jack's words. He's right -- they were avoiding each other, and he exhales. He can't pretend it ever happened, it's not entirely possible to wipe that kiss from his mind; he keeps going back to it from time to time, wondering if some part of him actually liked it.
He doesn't have the answer now, he can't find it in himself to pursue it at this moment, not when the memory of him accidentally burning Jack's wrist is scorched in his memory. ]
C'mon, let's go. I know there's a doctor in Mair.
