[ Johnny stills under him, caught by the gesture and what it means. It's all these moments that take his breath away, when Jack does something unexpected, something important that he would remember for ages. There are so many firsts with him, so many things Jack does that feels so brand new and heartfelt.
He lets him clean it off, the black smudged over the white shirt, and he catches his wrist, humor replaced with something else, something tender. He kisses the back of his knuckles before looking up at him, quietly reverent. ]
Hey. I have a gift for you. [ He fishes out a velvet, midnight-blue box with a silver ribbon on it, evidently having procured it from his home world when he had to go out on an errand. In it is an exquisite, handmade watch featuring the solar system made up of precious carved gemstones around a rose-gold sun, an elegantly created, glittering masterpiece. The gleaming gem representing Earth sits under the star that was engraved on the crystal that covers the watch, perfectly aligned.
Evidently, Johnny's probably spent his entire fortune on it. ]
[Jack is curious about the box. Johnny's tastes are from one extreme to the other. It could be anything from a ring to plastic vampire teeth. He drops the hem of his teeth and takes the box, another glance given to Johnny before he unties the ribbon.
Whatever he was expecting, it wasn't this.]
Johnny.
[He frowns a little, swallowing hard. It might not be the reaction that he expected or was hoping for, it's just.
This is the sky of Johnny's world. And he's asked him to never see it again.]
[ Well, that definitely isn't the reaction he's been expecting. His expectant expression becomes one of concern; Johnny hasn't put two and two together yet. He frowns, leaning forward. ]
[ Johnny pauses. It's still a sticking subject between them, the question of his world versus this one. But the thing is -- ]
Yeah, I wanted to. I thought we'd have been there longer, but that's not the point.
[ He exhales. ] I want you to have this, because you mean the world to me. I know that you've been busting your ass these last couple weeks, and I'm sorry I haven't fulfilled my promise to you -- that I'd do whatever is necessary for the people of the spire. I ended up hurting you, too.
[Jack sits down heavily on the bed beside him, looking at the watch again before focusing on Johnny's face. He obviously sees it in a different way. A sweeter way.
He smiles a little at the reminder.]
Yes, and I think you followed it up with "but my ass has always been out of this world".
[ He sets the box on his lap, coming to wrap his arm around Jack's waist. Johnny is aware of what he's thinking -- he's thinking of the things he thinks he's taken away from him. Johnny smiles. ]
Damn straight my ass is out of this world. [ He pauses. ] But see, I love space. It's awesome; and I guess -- what I'm trying to say is, you encompass all of it. And at the same time, I want to share what I love with you. A little piece of the universe.
[ Another beat. ] Does that sound lame? It totally sounded better in my head.
[They are from different worlds, in more than the literal sense. One of Jack's greatest fears had always been having something taken from him, so of course all he sees is what he has taken. But Johnny sees only what he wants to give.]
It sounded wonderful. [Jack smiles softly at him. A little piece of the universe, huh. He holds his arm up after a few more moments.] Put it on me.
[ He doesn't mind doing the giving -- Jack, after all, has given more than he'd ever thought to Johnny. They are both not perfect, they can be selfish, but that's all right. There's something about Jack's soft smile that cheers him up, and he beams at him before removing the watch carefully from its velvety resting place.
It shimmers and shines, some of the little planetary gemstones moving within it while others stayed still. It's almost reverent, the way he straps it around his wrist -- he knows he hasn't given Jack an answer yet, but a thing like this takes more than just a couple of weeks to resolve. And what he wants to show him now how is much he's loved nonetheless. ]
See that carved star up there? On Yule, it'll stop right above the earth. [ He grins, it was a clever little trick he engineered. ] Our anniversary. It'll do that every year. Cool, huh?
[Jack grins at him, at first not believing him, but quickly sensing that it's the truth. Johnny can be sweetly and surprisingly sentimental, but he has that same effect on Jack sometimes.]
Mm, I didn't know I was sleeping with a space genius. [Jack's eyes are dark and sly, a matching smirk on his lips before his expression softens.] It's very cool, but still only half as gorgeous as you are.
Yes, keep going. I'm extremely open to praise. [ He beams at Jack, boyishly excited by the fact that Jack likes his gift. ] Also, guess what? All the planets here are in their actual position when translated to the big scale. And they move around the sun at the same pace, too.
[ Never let it be said that Johnny Storm wouldn't go the extra one hundred miles for the man that he loves. He grins at him, before shifting to press a soft kiss against his lips, lingering and playful. Mmm, he's missed kissing him. ] So, does my Royal Catliness like his new toy?

What's wrong? Is it broken?
hem of his teeth...HEM OF HIS SHIRT.
[Jack says quietly.]
You bought this for me back in your world, didn't you? Did you plan to give it to me there as well?
I LAUGHED A LITTLE, IT WAS CUTE.
Yeah, I wanted to. I thought we'd have been there longer, but that's not the point.

You're giving me a world that I've asked you to give up. [He puts the lid back on the box.] I don't know if I can accept this.

Because you don't want to be reminded of it? Because if that's it, then you're wrong. This shows you that you're pretty much my sun and my stars.
[ He opens the box again, showing him the glittering watch. ] I told you I was an astronaut, wasn't I?
